This week we have lauched our FormulaExperience support program in Germany. The German Sailing Association (DSV) and the German Windsurfing Association (DWSV) are running this program in cooperation with all the windsurfing and sailing clubs in Germany and the two manufacturers BIC and Starboard. Everything is coordinated by the Windsurfing Office / Choppy Water GmbH.
The program is based on two parts:
FormulaExperience is introduced as an additional division in all competition levels in Germany. Starting from the youth series “Formel-J”, over the amateur regattas “Fun-Trophy”, up to the highest German competition series “German Windsurf Cup – DWC” – Everywhere the competitors can compete with Formula Experience equipment and will have a FE ranking and special prizes.
The second part is a special offer for clubs, associations and their members. The BIC Techno Formula, the Starboard Junior Formula 136 and the Starboard Youth Formula 156 can be ordered at extremely low prizes starting at EUR 539,- (board + straps + fin including handling, shipping and VAT). For the first 100 ordered Starboards an additional special discount is offered dropping the price down to EUR 470,-. Optional the Starboards can also be ordered with a boardbag.
By this program the German associations hope to attract more windsurfers and especially kids for the regattas in order to strengthen the competition scene. They are happy that the manufacturers BIC and Starboard have agreed to support the program. Hopefully other countries will start similar activities in order to build up a wider base for the sport. We don’t see a conflict between FW and FE. For us FE is just a special low prize and less high-tech segment that will help to make more people especially kids join the competitions.
We are planning to work out more co operations with additional manufacturers, media and external sponsors. These co operations don’t have to be limited to special segments or disciplines. Hopefully we will receive some proposals in the next time.
All the best from Kiel (Germany),
Matthias Regber
