The countdown to the biggest moments of the Formula Windsurfing season has already started. Riders from all over the world are preparing for two major championships that will bring together the fastest competitors, strong wind conditions, and the fight for the most important titles of the year.
391 Days to the European Championships in Portugal
There are 391 days left until the 2026 European Championships, which will take place from 3–7 June in the beautiful city of Lagos.
The event will be organised by Clube de Vela de Lagos together with Associação Formula Windsurfing Portugal.
After last year’s championship in Croatia, the European fleet will now travel to one of the most famous racing locations in Portugal. The regatta venue will be the Bay of Lagos, a spot well known for flat water and steady winds, perfect conditions for fast and tactical racing.
During the event, competitors can expect winds between 10 and 25 knots, creating exciting racing almost every day. Air temperatures usually stay between 20 and 30°C, while the water temperature reaches around 20–22°C, offering comfortable conditions both on and off the water.
Many international regattas and major championships have already been held in Lagos, so riders know they can expect professional organisation and an unforgettable atmosphere.
129 Days to the World Championships in Brazil
There are also only 129 days left until the Formula Windsurfing Fin & Foil World Championships, which will take place from 15–19 September 2025 in Guarapari, in the state of Espírito Santo.
The world’s best riders will compete for the most prestigious Formula Windsurfing titles. The winners of the foil divisions will become the 2026 Formula Foil Men’s and Women’s World Champions, while young competitors will battle for the Youth World Champion titles. In the fin division, riders will fight for the title of 2026 Formula Windsurfing Fin World Champion.
Last season, the championship brought very close racing and strong performances from the top competitors. Fabian Wolf won the gold medal and became World Champion with an impressive performance. Theo Peter finished in second place, while Frederic Ramsgaard completed the podium in third. Just behind them, Fernando Martinez del Cerro finished fourth overall and was also the best rider in the Master category.
This year, the top riders will return to defend their titles, while a new generation of competitors will try to stop them and reach the podium.
The season is getting closer every day, preparations are already underway, and the excitement continues to grow. Two championships, two incredible locations, and one goal for every rider, becoming champion.
