FW Committee policy for 2020 – titles

The following world titles will be awarded at class championships in 2020:
- Mens Formula Foil World Champion;
- Womens Formula Foil World Champion;
- Youth Formula Foil World Champion;
- Masters Formula Foil World Champion.

The class committee proposes to continue promoting both FIN and FOIL racing in continental championships, awarding continental titles in both equipment divisions.

2020 Formula Foil World Championships
Formula Foil Youth & Masters World Championships; Puck, POL; 30th June to 4th July.
Formula Foil World Championships- Men and Women; Silvaplana, SUI; 19th to 23rd August.
The Notice of Race for each event is being prepared and will be published on both the Formula class and IWA websites.

iQFOiL
The new olympic class will use 2020 to develop a fully functioning, new, olympic class association.
A complete iQFOiL calendar of championship events is planned for 2021; with class specific events planned for later in 2020.
However, during 2020 the FW class will include an iQFOiL division in its championships fleets.
For competitors with Formula Foil equipment there will also be an iQFOiL–Open division encouraged to compete at iQFOiL specific events.

We are after the Sea Trials at Lake Garda, Starboard Olympic Tender proposal the iFoil has been officially recommended by the Paris 2024 Windsurfer Evaluation Working Party of World Sailing.

Following comprehensive on-water testing and evaluation against the approved criteria, the Working Party recommends the selection of the Starboard iFoil as the equipment for the windsurfer events in 2024.

2024 Men's and Women's Windsurfer sea trials from 29 September to 3 October 2019 at Circolo Surf Torbole on Lake Garda, Italy.

12th of August 2019Windsurfing review for Paris 2024

Among the ten events for the Paris 2024 Olympics is Men's and Women's Windsurfing, and a review is underway to determine whether the RS:X equipment, which has served the event since the 2008 Games, will continue beyond Tokyo 2020. World Sailing has received seven tenders by Class Associations and Manufacturers that request consideration to be the selected equipment for Paris 2024.
