The emotions have settled, and it’s finally time to look back at the Formula Windsurfing Fin & Foil World Championships 2026 in Guarapari, Brazil. Held from 15-19 September, the event brought together 62 sailors from seven countries for five days of competition, challenging conditions and a fight for the world titles.
The wind had its own plans throughout the championship. While the Formula Foil fleet managed to complete five races, light and inconsistent conditions meant that the Formula Fin sailors unfortunately never got the chance to compete. Despite the weather challenges, the event delivered plenty of memorable moments and crowned the new Formula Foil World Champions.
Portugal’s Miguel Martinho dominated the Formula Foil fleet, winning four out of five races to take the overall world title. Poland’s Pawel Dittrich secured second place, followed by his compatriot Jan Klimaszyk in third. Brazilian sailor Marcelo Morrone finished fourth overall, while Giovanna Prada claimed fifth place overall and the Women’s World Championship title.
With the championship behind us, it’s time to celebrate the sailors who stood on the podium across the different categories and revisit the results that made this year’s event one to remember.
Beyond the results, the championship was also a meeting point for the international Formula Windsurfing community. With sailors representing seven countries, Guarapari brought together athletes of different generations and experience levels, all sharing the same passion for windsurfing. Although the conditions limited the racing programme, the event marked another important moment for the class and its community.
