After an early start time yesterday and lots of sitting around untill the wind
came they decided to let us have a lie in and arrive at the race site for an
11.00am briefing.  Nothing had changed for the proposed racing for the day.
Same start sequence, same course and same schedule of races – 2 back to
back, lunch and 2 back to back.

The
wind was really light and shifty early on and the race committee decided to hold
us untill 1.00pm for the next anouncement.  We were called out shortly
after with the wind between 11 – 14 kts.  Dorota and myself opted for our
9.8sqm sails and Verena took her 10.9! When we got to the start line the wind
had dropped and a lot of the men were complaining that the wind was not as they
had said over the tanoy and it was unfair, so we were sent in!!!!!! A nice 20min
sail back to the beach.  After 10min on the beach we were off again!!!!!!
We started sucessfully this time, even though I had a terrible start all the
other girls did well on the port bgiased line!  Dorota led the race with
myself and Christine Johnston in hot persuit.  After gybing for the mark
Dorota rounded first and I followed.  Christine was nowere to be seen –
unfortunately she had seen the wrong mark and headed way off course!!!! Dorota
won the race with me behind.

The second race was windier and I had a killer start – after 5 starts everybody
is getting hot at starting.  I led for the first lap with Dorota behind me.
After falling in down the last run after hitting a squall of fish I
uphaulled quickley and still managed to win the race.
The back to back flag was up and it was into another start sequence before we
had time to breath.  The sun was getting lower and the marks were getting
even harder to find.  I rounded the first lap 1st after another good start.
With the wind increasing and the visability getting tricky, Dorota had a
good secon beat, and with weed on my fin I was unable to capatilize on my lead
and Dorota rounded the upwind mark 1st.  Unable to keep up with her speed
on the reach Dorota won the final race of the day with myself 2nd and Verena
3rd.

It
was a good day, but 3 races back to back was hard work.  Unfortluately I
haven’t seen the final results from the day so I haven’t got any info on the
happenings of the other girls in the fleet!!!

I am looking forward to another day of racing tomorrow – 11.00am briefing,
12.00start and 16.00pm last possible start!!!!!!!!!!

Results after 7 races (two discards)
