The North Sea Cup 2009

Belgium, Oostende, 09-10 May '09
1. VENUE & ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The North Sea Cup 2009 will be held on 9 & 10 May 2009 and will be sailed in front of the beach club VVW Outside, Oostende. The event is organized by VVW Inside under the supervision of the Flemish Yachting Federatie (VYF), the Belgian Association 4 Boardriding Competitors and the Koninklijk Belgisch Yachting Verbond (KBYV)

2. RULES
2.1 The regatta will be sailed under following rules
a. The current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) (except as altered by the Sailing Instructions );
b. The current Class Rules of the different classes involved.
c. The Notice of Race;
d. The Sailing Instructions (SI) and their amendments.

2.2 Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

2.5 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all competitors.

3.2 There will be sailed in 4 fleets:

Formula Windsurfing and Formula Experience
- Course Racing
- wind limit 7 knots.
Techno 293 OD
- Course Racing
- Wind limit 7 knots
Subdivisions:
U 15 : sailsurface maximum 6.8 m2 (born in or after 1995 and not later than 1998)
U 17 : sailsurface maximum 7.8 m2 (born in or after 1993 and not later than 1997)
U 20 : sailsurface maximum 7.8 m2 (born in or after 1990, and not later than 1996)
Open” : zeilen tot maximaal 7.8 m2
Hybrid / RS:X / Raceboard & Mistral
- Course Racing
- Wind limit 7 knots
Slalom
- figure 8 or downwind
- wind limit 15 knots.

4. ENTRY FEE
€ 25,00,- to be paid at the registration desk in the regatta office upon arrival.

8. SCORING
8.1 Racing
8.1.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply to all races.
8.1.2 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
8.1.3 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
8.2 Slalom – see IFCA Class Rules

9. SUPPORT BOATS
Team leaders and/or coaches shall register at the registration office before the start of the first race and give the sail numbers of all boats they are supporting.

10. SAFETY
Adequate personal buoyancy shall be worn at all times while afloat in the Bic Techno class. Wet suits and dry suits do not constitute adequate personal buoyancy.

11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4, Decision to Race.
The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

12. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance. This may be checked at registration

13. ACCOMMODATION

14. CATERING
- Saturday evening: free barbeque for all competitors.

Among the ten events for the Paris 2024 Olympics is Men's and Women's Windsurfing, and a review is underway to determine whether the RS:X equipment, which has served the event since the 2008 Games, will continue beyond Tokyo 2020. World Sailing has received seven tenders by Class Associations and Manufacturers that request consideration to be the selected equipment for Paris 2024.
