ITALIAN FORMULA WINDSURFING OPEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS -I LORENZA BALLANTI MEMORIAL

1.EVENT:

The 2006 Italian Formula Windsurfing Open National Championships will be held from Tuesday June 20th to Saturday June 24th in Ravenna/Porto Corsini, Italy. The event is a Level 3 Formula Windsurfing World Ranking event.

2.ORGANISER :

The Championships will be organized by the ADRIATICO WIND CLUB as the Local Organizing Authority (LOA) in co-operation with Italian Formula Windsurfing Class.§

3. VENUE:
The event will be based at Porto Corsini/Ravenna.

4. RULES:
This is an event governed by:
4.1.1 The 2005/2008 Racing Rules of Saling (RRS), and Appendix B - Windsurfing.
4.1.2 The IFWC Class Rules.
4.1.3 This Notice of Race (NoR) & the Sailing Instructions (Sis).
4.1.4 Alterations to the Sis.
4.2 The IFWC is a category 'C class as set out in ISAF Regulation 20 - Advertising Code.

5. ELIGIBILITY & DISCIPLINE

5.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code.
5.2 A minimum of 1 race is required for a valid Championship.
5.3 Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance, that is included in Foreign Membership' of the Italian FW Class.
5.4 Competitors shall be a member of a National FW Association with medical prescriptions and shall have a 'Foreign Membership' of Italian FW Class whose cost is included in the entry fee.
5.5 Italian FW Class Membership formalities can be completed on site.

6. CLASSES
6.1 In the Formula Windsurfing Italian National Championship the series shall be a single discipline 'Open Entry' event for men (Division A).
6.1.3 There shall be a maximum of 4 races per day.
6.2 Masters(B) and Grandmasters(C) men shall race with Division A.

7. DIVISIONS
7.1 Gender: Men (A);
7.2 Age:
7.2.2 A Master (B) is a man who has reached the age of 35 (born from 1961 to 1970)
7.2.3 A Grandmaster (C) is a man who has reached the age of 45 (born in 1960>)
7.2.4 A competitor shall have reached the minimum age, in the relevant division, by Dec.31st2005.
7.2. A competitor shall not be older than the maximum age limit, in the relevant division, by Dec 31st 2006.

7.3 Weight:
7.3.1 Lightweight - a sailor who weighs till 75 kg.
7.3.2 There will be results for a Lightweight division extracted from general results.
7.3.3 There will be results for a Lightweight division for Masters and Grandmasters.
7.4 A minimum of 3 entries is required to constitute a division within a fleet.

8. EQUIPMENT

8.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment.

9. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION

9.1 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the Class Rules.
9.2 The equipment inspectors will pay special attention to sail identification rule compliance.
9.3 Equipment checks may be made throughout the event.

10. SAIL INSIGNIAS

10.1 National letters & sail numbers shall be in a colour that contrasts strongly with the body of the sail; placed immediately above the event advertising; and positioned according to RRS App. G. Alternatively sail insignias may be placed back to back on a white background. All Sails shall otherwise comply with the national letter system according to the RRS 77 and App. G.

11. BUOYANCY
11.1 If personal buoyancy is prescribed, each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg uninflated, in fresh water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a ferrous metal weight of 4kg., which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.

12. LIABILITY

12.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The LOA, Italian Formula Windsurfing Class or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.

13. COURSES
13.1 Courses shall be as prescribed in the IFWC Championship Rules or in the Sailing Instructions.

14. SCORING
14.1 The RRS low points scoring system shall apply (Appendix B- Windsurfing).

15. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS (SI)/EVENT PROGRAMME

15.1 The 'Championship Sis' will be available at registration, as will the Event Programme scheduling social events.

16. SCHEDULE

Tuesday June 20th: 1000 - 1200 hrs Registration / just after: Racing
Wed/Fri July 21nd/23rd: 1000 hrs Skipper's meeting / 1100 hrs First possible start.
Saturday June 24th: 1000 hrs Skipper's meeting / 1030 hrs First possible start / 1700hrs Last possible start / 1730 hrs: Prizegiving Ceremony.

17. TELEVISION AND MEDIA

17.1 In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.


18. BIBS/VESTS & COMPETITORS SAIL BRANDING

18.1 During racing, competitors may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors' branding; and carry the event sponsor's advertising on their sails. The maximum size of one event-advertising sticker is 600mmX1000mm. The sticker may not be cut or trimmed in any way.

19. REGISTRATION

19.1 The registration office during the regatta will be at the Race Office situated at Adriatico Wind Club area.
19.2 Competitors shall be required to produce the following prior to completing registration formalities on site on Tuesday June 20th from 10.00 a.m. to noon:
- Original Regatta and Equipment Registration Entry Form;
- National FW Association membership card;
- Italian FW Association Foreign Membership card valid as third party insurance too;
- Medical Treatment permission;
- Parental/legal Guardian Assent for those under age of 18;
- Proof of age.

20. ENTRIES & PAYMENT

20.1 The entry fees are 150 Euros - and shall be paid in advance. All competitors that have to send the entry fee amount within MONDAY JUNE 12TH and will have:
* entry to Championships;
* foreign membership of Italian FW Class and third party insurance for this regatta;
* four free dinners on June 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd;

It will be possible to pay entry fees on site (always 150 Euros).

ANYWAY IT'S COMPULSORY TO SEND AN EMAIL TO ITALIAN NATIONAL WINDSURFING OFFICE ( mared@fastwebnet.it ) with your relevant data within June 17th informing about the decision of racing. Please, no payments by bank after the deadline of June 12th.
