Kiteboard Course Racing and Formula Windsurf Course Racing North American Championships

1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing including Appendix B – Windsurfing Competition Rules, and 2012 Appendix BB - Kiteboard Racing Rules.
1.2 The IFWC Class Rules and Championship Rules.
1.3 The IKA Class Rules and Championship Rules.
1.4 Only the following US SAILING prescriptions will apply: the prescriptions to Rules 68, 76.1, and rule 76.3.
1.5 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2 ADVERTISING
Competitors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. ISAF Regulation 20 Advertising Code shall apply.

3 DIVISIONS
3.1 A minimum of five (5) competitors is required to constitute a division.
3.2 For the Formula Class, each of the following may be divided into Men and Women:
3.2.1 Junior: under the age of 17 – born in or after 1996.
3.2.2 Youth: under the age of 20 – born in or after 1993.
3.2.3 Master: for men, a master shall be 35 years old – born in or before 1976. For women, a master shall be 30 years old – born in or before 1981.
3.2.4 Free Formula: competitors unable to meet the IFWC Class Rules.
3.3 For the IKA Class, each of the following may be divided into Men and Women:
3.3.1 Youth: under 18 years of age in the year of the competition.
3.3.2 Senior: open to competitors of all ages.
3.3.3 Master: 35+ years of age in the year of the competition.
3.3.4 Grand Master: 45+ years of age in the year of the competition.

4 ENTRY
4.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 – Eligibility Code.
4.2 Competitors shall be members of a national class association which is a paid up member of the relevant international class association (IFWC or IKA), or of the IFWC/IKA.
4.3 Eligible competitors may enter by completing registration online at http://www.stfyc.com/default.aspx?p=v35EvtView&type=0&ID=2770502 Entries must be submitted by Monday, July 9, 2012 to avoid a late fee.

5 FEES
5.1 The entry fee is $195 (USD) if received by July 9, 2012.
5.2 A late fee of an additional $75 (USD) will be charged on any accepted registrations submitted after July 9, 2012.
5.3 There may also be an additional fee for any family and friends interested in attending any social events associated with this regatta.

6 FORMAT
The regatta may consist of a Qualification Series and a Final Series for each class.

8 EQUIPMENT AND EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
8.1 An Equipment Inspection Form, which will be available online or at registration, shall be returned to the Event Equipment Inspector before the close of registration.
8.2 Equipment inspections may be made at any time during the event.
8.3 Unless otherwise directed by the organizing authority, boards and equipment shall be launched and retrieved from the designated area at the event site.
8.4 Overnight storage of equipment will be provided adjacent to the event site.

9 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available at Check-in on Wednesday, July 18. An unofficial copy of the Sailing Instructions may be posted at www.stfyc.com prior to that date.

10 VENUE
The intended race area will on the San Francisco Bay City Front.

11 THE COURSES
Courses will be as described in the Sailing Instructions or on the Official Regatta Notice Board.

12 INTERNATIONAL JURY
Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in Rule 70.5.

13 SCORING
13.1 Scoring for the Formula Class will be according to the WCR Appendix B. IFWC Formula Championship Rules 13.5 shall apply for discards.
13.2 Scoring for the Kiteboard Class will be according to the Section 6 of the IKA Championship Rules 2012.
13.3 Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

14 SUPPORT BOATS
All support boats shall register with the StFYC Race Office prior to racing and will be required to display an identifying flag supplied by the Organizing Authority.

15 SAFETY
All competitors shall wear wetsuits with a minimum thickness of 3/2mm, full length legs and short sleeves as minimum coverage.

16 PRIZES AND TITLES
Prizes will be awarded based on participation. North American titles may only be awarded to a racer eligible to compete for a North American class association.

17 DISCLAIMER OR LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

18 INSURANCE
Each participating board shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of US$500.000 per event or the equivalent amount in another currency.

19 RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organizing Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Event as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.
