1 RULES
1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing – Windsurfing Competition Rules (WCR).
1.2 The Class Rules and Championship Rules of the participating Classes shall apply.
1.3 No national prescriptions will apply.
1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.
1.5 In the Formula Windsurfing World Championship (FWWC) competitors are limited to competing in the FIN division – Class Rule C.2.4 (a).
1.6 In the Formula Windsurfing Foil World Championship (FFWC) competitors are limited to competing in the FOIL division – Class Rule C.2.4 (b).
1.7 The FFWC is also one event in the 2018 Foil Grand Prix Series.

2 ADVERTISING
2.1 Sailors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority. World Sailing Regulation 20 ‘Advertising Code’ shall apply.
2.2 Event branding shall be worn at all times when afloat, and as requested by the organizers during media interviews and during the prize giving.

3 CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS & DIVISIONS
3.1 Class Championships:
3.1.1 Formula Windsurfing (Fin) World Championship (FWWC)- 15th to 20th September
3.1.2 Raceboard Masters World Championship (RMWC)- 15th to 20th September
3.1.3 Formula Windsurfing Foil World Championship (FFWC)- 21st to 23rd September
3.2 Gender Divisions: FWWC, RMWC & FFWC are open to both Men and Women of any age.
3.3 Age Divisions – Men only:
3.3.1 A Master shall be over the age of 35 (born in 1982 or earlier).
3.3.2 A Grandmaster shall be over the age of 45 (born 1972 or earlier).
3.3.3 A Veteran shall be over the age of 55 (born 1962 or earlier).
3.3.4 A Super Veteran shall be a RMWC man over the age of 65 (born 1952 or earlier).
3.4 FW Weight Division: Lightweight is a man who weighs less than 75kg.
3.5 RB Weight Division: Heavyweight is a man who weighs more than 78 kg.
3.6 A minimum of 5 competitors is required to constitute a division.

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 All competitor entries shall meet the requirements of World Sailing Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code.
4.2 Competitors shall be members of a National Class Association which is a paid up member of the relevant international class association, or of the IWA. Membership formalities can be completed on site.
4.3 Eligible competitors may enter online - credit/debit card or bank transfer payment required. Online entry will close on 10th September.
4.4 An entry is not valid until the entry fee is paid.
4.5 The following shall be presented upon registration:
Evidence of valid third party insurance
Proof of age
Parental Permission Form - for those under age of 18
Deposit of 20 euro for the event lycra (will be refunded when the lycra is returned undamaged after the prize giving)

5 FEES
5.1 The entry fee is: 220 euro for FWWC or RMWC; 150 euro for FFWC. There will be a 30 euro discount for payment received by 18th August 2018.
5.2 The entry fee for FWWC and FFWC is 300 euro. There will be a 40 euro discount for payment received by 18th August 2018.
5.3 Entry fees paid at registration shall be paid in cash (euro).
5.4 Late entries received at registration will be surcharged 20 euro.

6 RACE FORMAT
6.1 The Championships shall be racing, “open entry” events.
6.2 Men and women shall race together.
6.3 Competitors may race a maximum 5 races per day, in a maximum 15 race series for FWWC and RMWC, and a maximum 12 race series for FFWC.
6.4 Three races are required to validate a Championship.

8 EQUIPMENT & EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
8.1 An Equipment Inspection Form which will also be available at registration, shall be returned to the Event Equipment Inspector by the end of registration.
8.2 Equipment inspections may be made at any time during the event
8.3 Unless otherwise directed by the organising authority, boards and equipment shall be launched and retrieved from the designated area at the event site.
8.4 Competitors in the Formula Windsurfing World Championship (FWWC) are not permitted to use a Foil, racing is on Fin only – Class Rule C.6.1.
8.5 Competitors in the Formula Windsurfing Foil World Championship (FFWC) are not permitted to use a Fin, racing is on Foil only – Class Rule C.6.2.

9 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions (SI’s) will be available upon registration. Any changes to the SI’s shall be approved by the Class Representative at the event.

10 COURSES
Courses will be as described in the sailing instructions.

11 INTERNATIONAL JURY
An International Jury may be appointed in accordance with WCR Appendix N. There shall be no appeal from their decisions in accordance with WCR 70.5.

12 SCORING
Scoring will be according to the WCR Appendix A except as amended by the relevant class championship rules.

13 COACHES & SUPPORT BOATS
Coaches and support boats shall be registered with the organiser. Support boat drivers shall have a valid boat licence and third party liability insurance.

14 SAFETY
Support boat crewmember, and, if conditions require it, competitors, shall wear a personal flotation device that shall conform to the minimum standard of ISO 12402-5 (level 50).

15 PRIZES
15.1 Prizes may be awarded to the first three competitors of each properly constituted division.
15.2 The first competitor in the FWWC will be declared - “2018 Formula Windsurfing World Champion”.
15.3 The first competitor in the RMWC will be declared – “2018 Raceboard Masters World Champion”.
15.4 The first competitor in the FFWC will be declared – “2018 Formula Windsurfing Foil World Champion”.
15.5 There shall be a prize fund of 10,000 euro (net of taxes) in the FWWC which shall be distributed according to IFWC Rules.
15.6 There shall be a prize fund of 5,000 euro (net of taxes) in the FFWC which shall be distributed according to IFWC Rules.

16 OFFICIAL CEREMONIES
Competitors are requested to attend the event’s social functions; including the opening and closing ceremonies. Prize winners may forfeit prizes for non attendance at the prize giving ceremony.

17 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk; see WCR 4 - Decision to Race. The organising authority or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the event.

18 INSURANCE
Each participating competitor shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1,000,000 euro per event or the equivalent.

19 RIGHT TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Event as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.

The following information is not part of the rules for the Event.

A TRAVEL & TRANSFER
The nearest airport is Faro International Airport, and it is 60 km from the venue where the event will take place - at Praia da Rocha, Portimao. There is a motorway between Faro Airport and Portimão.

Faro Airport, receives a large part of the low-cost flights EasyJet, Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Transavia, TUIFly, JET2, Condor, Air Berlin and other; also several international airlines Fly, most airlines fly from major European cities direct to Faro.

There will be transfers between the Airport and the Race Site. Please contact the (Naval Club of Portimão) if you want to use the service.

The price of each car will be 60 € (including 2 pax and equipment) for one way.

If you make a reservation Faro - Portimão - Faro, a return booking, you will get a discount on the price.
