Girl Power!
Formula Windsurfing is not an easy sport for women, but they continue to show incredible determination and strength every time they step on the start line. Even though the number of female competitors is sometimes small, they always prove how powerful and inspiring women in this sport can be.
At the 2025 Formula Windsurfing Foil World Championships, which took place in Torbole from 9-13 September 2025, two women competed: Diana Vicari and Laura Urbanski. Huge congratulations to both of them for representing women in this challenging discipline!
A year earlier, the 2024 Formula Windsurfing Foil World Championships were held in Puck. It was a fantastic event, and this time the women’s fleet was much larger – seven women competed on the start line:
Maja Kuchta, Martyna Duzowska, Kristýna Pinosová, Aleksandra Wąsiewicz, Karolina Gajdzińska, Zofia Noceti‑Klepacka and Maja Pomierska.
Even if their numbers are smaller compared to the men’s fleet, women in Formula Windsurfing consistently show incredible strength, determination and passion for the sport.
Looking back in history, in 2006 the Formula Windsurfing World Champion title was won by Allison Shreeve. Second place went to Yshie Ishinoda, followed by Sarah Hébert in third place.
In later years the championship podium was dominated by outstanding sailors such as Marta Hlavaty, Maja Dziarnowska and Agnieszka Pietrasik – incredibly talented athletes, all representing Poland.🇵🇱
Women in Formula Windsurfing continue to inspire the next generations. Huge congratulations to all the athletes who push the limits and show the true power of women in windsurfing! ✨
