Steve Allen wins the ALLEGRO.PL CUP in front of Arnon Dagan

by Matthias Regber
The last day of the ALLEGRO.PL CUP in Leba (Poland) brought mixed weather with sunshine and rain but unfortunately not enough wind to run more official races. One starting attempt in the last minute had to be abandoned wind. So the positions from yesterday didn't change. Steve Allen (AUS-0, Tabou, Gaastra), Formula Windsurfing World Champion from 2003 and Arnon Dagan (ISR-1, Fanatic, Neil Pryde) are together on the top, both with 5.00 points. Only because of his better result in the last race the Australian is able to conquer the first position.

Just 0.70 points behind the double pack in the front follows Michal Polanowski (POL-16, Starboard, Naish Sails) on the third place. With his triumph yesterday Antoine Albeau (FRA-192, Starboard, Neil Pryde) was able to win some ground and is now fourth with 7.70 points. Then there is already a bigger gap to place five which is conquered by Przemysław Miarczyński (POL-126, F2, Naish Sails) with 16.00 points. The current Formula Windsurfing European Champion Ross Williams (GBR-83, Tabou, Gaastra) from Great Britain is in the sixth position with 18.00 points after beating the Portuguese Champion Miguel Martinho (POR-5, Starboard, Neil Pryde, 18.00 points) in the tie break. Kasper Juul Larsen (DEN-288, Starboard, Neil Pryde) showed a strong performance with 19.00 points granting him position
eight. Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG-3, F2, Neil Pryde) has a strong comeback with 22.00 points and got nineth in front of the Italian Youngster Alberto Menegatti who completes the top-10 with 25.00 points.

Zofia Klepacka (POL-505, F2, Gaastra) is the best woman with 76.00 points on an excellent 25th place. Robert Bałdyga (POL-18, Starboard, Naish Sails) and Leszek Rutkowski (POL-220, Starboard, Naish Sails) have tough fight for the honour to be the best youth competitor among each other. Both show exceptional performance: At the moment Robert is in the front with 28.00 points on position 12 only one point and place in front of his hardest opponent Leszek. Marco Begalli (ITA-415, Exocet, North Sails) is the best Master with 84.00 points on place 26.

Unfortunately Leba was not as windy as the windsurfer know the venue from the past. Nonetheless everybody enjoyed the ALLEGRO.PL CUP and the hospitality of the Polish hosts. So everybody is already looking forward to the next year. From the Baltic coast the racers will now travel into the middle of the Alps. Already on Wednesday the next Windsurfing Euro-Cup will start over 1.800m above sea level with the STIMOROL ENGADINWIND.COM.
