2008 Formula Open and Junior Nordic Championships

Denmark, Søbadet Strand in Nyborg, 15-17 August '08
1.1 The 2008 Formula Open and Junior Nordic Championships will be held from Friday August 15th, to Sunday August 17th 2008, in Nyborg, Fyn, Denmark.
1.2 The event is a Level 3 Formula Windsurfing World Ranking event.

2.1 The Championships will be organised by Østfyns Brætsejler Klub as the Local Organising Authority (LOA). This event is sanctioned by: DBO and SkSF

3.1 The event will be based at the Søbadet Strand in Nyborg in easterly winds or at Slipshavn in Nyborg in westerly winds.
3.2 Take exit 45 on highway E20.
3.3 Nyborg is 133 km from CPH, the nearest international airport.
3.4 Conditions to be expected: winds depending on prevailing weather system; water temperature 15-20°C; air temperature 15-25°C

4. RULES The event shall be governed by
4.1 The 2005/2008 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and Appendix B – Windsurfing 4.2 The SKSF Nordic Championship Rules 2006
4.3.1 The IFWC Class & Championship Rules 2006 for Formula racing
4.4 This Notice of Race (NoR) & the Sailing Instructions (SIs) The event is a category 'C' event as set out in ISAF Regulation 20 - Advertising Code.

5.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code.
5.2 All competitors shall meet the requirements of SKSF Nordic Championship Rules
5.3 All competitors shall be a member of a national association that is member of the IFWC
5.4 Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance.

6.1 The Class will be Formula windsurfing.
6.2 There shall be a maximum of 4 races/series per day. The maximum number of races in the series is 12.

7.1 Gender: Open and Women.
7.2 Age:
7.2.1 A youth is a sailor born in or after 1989
7.2.2 A Master is a man who is born in or before 1972 or a woman who is born in or after 1977

8.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment.

9.1 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the Class Rules.
9.2 The equipment inspectors will pay special attention to sail identification rule compliance.
9.3 Equipment checks may be made throughout the event.

10.1 National letters & sail numbers shall be in a colour that contrasts strongly with the
body of the sail; placed immediately above the event advertising; and positioned according to RRS App. G. Alternatively sail insignias may be placed back to back on a white background. All Sails shall otherwise comply with the national letter system according to the RRS 77 and App. G.

11.1 According to Danish legislation, each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear a life vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg uninflated, in fresh water. It is emphasized that this rule is reinforced for all classes. The vest shall be worn at all times on the water during training and competition.

12.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The LOA, DBO or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.

13.1 Courses shall be as described in the IFWC Championship Rules, in the Sailing Instructions or as per race committee instructions.

14.1 The 'Championship SIs' will be available at registration, as will the Event Programme scheduling social events.

16.1 The organiser will force a strict policy regarding rigging area and clear passages. Anyone not following the restrictions set out by the organisers can be disqualified after just one warning

17.1 Each participant shall be insured with a valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum insurance limit of 2.000.000 Dkr. per event.

18.1 Medals or trophies may be awarded up to the first 3 competitors in the Championship, including Women, Youth and Masters, depending on entry numbers. Prize categories and the actual number of prizes to be awarded in each properly constituted division will be posted on the official notice board after the close of registration.
18.2 The winner of the event shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Champion.
18.3 The first woman in the event shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Women Champion.
18.4 The first youth in the event shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Youth Champion.

19.1 Competitors are reminded of the ISAF rules and regulations concerning the use of banned methods and substances. Drug testing by AntiDoping Danmark IS LIKELY to take place during the event.

20.1 In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.

21.1 During racing, competitors may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors' branding; and carry the event sponsor's advertising on their sails. The maximum size of the event-advertising sticker is 600mmX1000mm. The stickers may not be cut or trimmed in any way.

22.1 There will be an official dinner on Saturday evening for all competitors included in the entry fee.

23.1 All competitors may park their vehicles in the competitors’ area during the entire event. Camping and overnight stay on the event site is however not allowed.

24.1 A wide range of scheduled and charter flights are available from all over Europe.
24.2 Competitors must themselves arrange for transport from the airport. The forum on or will be useful for arranging transport from local riders.

25.1 The entry fee for all classes and divisions is 600 Dkr. (80 Euros). The cut-off date for pre-entry is July 25th, 2008.

25.3 Entry fees paid on site shall be made in cash in Dkr. only. 100 Dkr (15 Euros) will be charged as late-entry fee. Entry on site cannot be guaranteed.
25.4 The maximum number of entries is limited to 96 for Formula. The organiser and DBO will assign the starting slots based on a first-come-first-served principle combined with wild-card distribution.
