ITALIAN 2007 OPEN FW NATIONALS

NOTICE OF RACE FOR ITALIAN FORMULA WINDSURFING OPEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

1.EVENT:
The 2007 Italian Formula Windsurfing Open National Championships will be held from Thursday May 31st to Sunday June 3rd in Torbole Garda Lake, Italy. The event is a Level 3 Formula Windsurfing World Ranking event.

2.ORGANISER :
The Championships will be organized by the CIRCOLO SURF TORBOLE as the Local Organizing Authority (LOA) in co-operation with Italian Formula Windsurfing Class.

3. VENUE:
The event will be based at Torbole Garda Lake.

4. RULES:
This is an event governed by:
4.1.1 The 2005/2008 Racing Rules of Saling (RRS), and Appendix B - Windsurfing.
4.1.2 The IFWC Class Rules Rules.
4.1.3 This Notice of Race (NoR) & the Sailing Instructions (Sis).
4.1.4 Alterations to the Sis.
4.2 The IFWC is a category 'C class as set out in ISAF Regulation 20 - Advertising Code.

5. ELIGIBILITY & DISCIPLINE
5.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code.
5.2 A minimum of 3 race is required for a valid Championship.
5.3 Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance, that is included in Foreign Membership of the Italian FW Class.
5.4 Competitors shall be a member of a National FW Association with medical prescriptions and shall have a 'Foreign Membership' of Italian FW Class whose cost is included in the entry fee.
5.5 Italian FW Class Membership formalities can be completed on site.

6. CLASSES
6.1 In the Formula Windsurfing Italian National Championship the series shall be a single discipline 'Open Entry' event for men (Division A), Women (Division B).
6.1.3 There shall be a maximum of 4 races per day.
6.2 Youth (C), Masters(D) and Grandmasters(E) men shall race with Division A.

7. DIVISIONS
7.1 Gender: Men (A); Women (B).
7.2 Age:
7.2.2 A Youth (C) shall be under the age of 20 (born in or after 1998 and not later than 1995)
7.2.2 A Master (D) is a man who has reached the age of 35 (born from 1962 to 1971) or a woman who has reached the age of 30 (born from 1976>)
7.2.3 A Grandmaster (E) is a man who has reached the age of 45 (born in 1961>)
7.2.4 A competitor shall have reached the minimum age, in the relevant division, by Dec.31st 2006.
7.2. A competitor shall not be older than the maximum age limit, in the relevant division, by Dec 31st 2007.

7.3 Weight:
7.3.1 Lightweight - a sailor who weighs till 75 kg.
7.3.2 There will be results for a Lightweight division extracted from general results.
7.4 A minimum of 3 entries is required to constitute a division within a fleet.

8. EQUIPMENT
8.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment.

9. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
9.1 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the Class Rules.
9.2 The equipment inspectors will pay special attention to sail identification rule compliance.
9.3 Equipment checks may be made throughout the event.

10. SAIL INSIGNIAS
10.1 National letters & sail numbers shall be in a colour that contrasts strongly with the body of the sail; placed immediately above the event advertising; and positioned according to RRS App. G. Alternatively sail insignias may be placed back to back on a white background. All Sails shall otherwise comply with the national letter system according to the RRS 77 and App. G.

11. BUOYANCY
11.1 Buoyancy is compulsory. Each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg uninflated, in fresh water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a ferrous metal weight of 4kg., which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.

12. LIABILITY
12.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The LOA, Italian Formula Windsurfing Class or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.

13. COURSES
13.1 Courses shall be as prescribed in the IFWC Championship Rules or in the Sailing Instructions.

14. SCORING
14.1 The RRS low points scoring system shall apply (Appendix B- Windsurfing).

15. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS (SI)/EVENT PROGRAMME
15.1 The 'Championship Sis' will be available at registration, as will the Event Programme scheduling social events.

16. SCHEDULE
Thursday May 31st: 1000 - 1200 hrs Registration / just after: Skipper¹s meeting and Racing
Fri/Sat June 1st/2nd: 1000 hrs Skipper's meeting / 1100 hrs First possible start.
Sunday June 3rd: 1000 hrs Skipper's meeting / 1100 hrs First possible start / 1700hrs Last possible start / 1730 hrs: Prizegiving Ceremony.

17. TELEVISION AND MEDIA
17.1 In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.

18. BIBS/VESTS & COMPETITORS SAIL BRANDING
18.1 During racing, competitors may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors' branding; and carry the event sponsor's advertising on their sails. The maximum size of one event-advertising sticker is 600mmX1000mm. The sticker may not be cut or trimmed in any way.

19. REGISTRATION
19.1 The registration office during the regatta will be at the Race Office situated at Circolo Surf Torbole.
19.2 Competitors shall be required to produce the following prior to completing registration formalities on site on Thursday May 31st from 10.00 a.m. to noon:
- Original Regatta and Equipment Registration Entry Form;
- National FW Association membership card;
- Italian FW Association Foreign Membership card valid as third party insurance too;
- Medical Treatment permission;
- Parental/legal Guardian Assent for those under age of 18;
- Proof of age.

20. ENTRIES & PAYMENT
20.1 The entry fees are 120 Euros - and shall be paid in advance. All competitors that have to send the entry fee amount within SUNDAY MAY 20TH and will have:
* entry to Championships;
* foreign membership of Italian FW Class and third party insurance for this regatta;
It will be possible to pay entry fees on site (late entry fees: 150 Euros) on May 31st morning.
ANYWAY IT'S COMPULSORY TO SEND AN EMAIL TO ITALIAN NATIONAL WINDSURFING OFFICE (mared@fastwebnet.it) with your relevant data(family name, first name, sail number, full address, date and place of birth, email address) within May 25th informing about the decision of racing. Please, no payments by bank after the deadline of May 20th.

ITALIAN 2007 OPEN FW NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TORBOLE
From Thursday May 31st to Sunday June 3rd Circolo Surf Torbole on Garda Lake will host the 2007 Italian Formula Windsurfing Open National Championships. After the successful editions in Elba Island 2004, Reggio Calabria 2005 and Ravenna Porto Corsini 2006, this year the most important event in Italian FW racing season docks at Circolo Surf Torbole, one of the most worldwide popular and famous windsurfing club all over the world. All windsurfers know and enjoy wind conditions of Northern Garda Lake. Circolo Surf Torbole during the last twenty years has been the spot of the most important windsurfing events: Funboard World Championships, FW European Championships, FW Master & Youth Worlds, Euro-Cup regattas, Super-Cup events till the first edition of RS:X World Championships that last year gathered more than two hundred competitors.

To all foreign competitors we offer a good package, with regatta entry fee and membership of Italian FW Class as requested by our rules, all for 120 Euros. After having made your payment, please send an email to Italian National Windsurfing Office mared@fastwebnet.it with your relevant data (family name, first name, full address, date and palce of birth, sail number, email adress) in order to write out your membership card that will be given to you at registration time on May 31st.
Naturally people can enter on site the first regatta day, but paying a late entry fee of 150 Euros.
Read carefully the notice of race, and send ASAP an email to Italian National Windsurfing Office (mared@fastwebnet.it) informing us about your interest to be part of this very important regatta. We are always available to assist and help for anything you need.
