Nordic Championships 2005 Formula Windsurfing and Freestyle

1. Event
The Nordic Championships in Formula Windsurfing and Freestyle 2005 will be held from Friday May 27th to Sunday May 29th at Skiphelle, Drøbak, Norway. The event is a Level 3 Formula Windsurfing World Ranking event.

2. Organiser
The Championships will be organised by Drøbaksund Sailing Club (DSSF) and the Norwegian Boardsailing Federation (NBK) as the Local Organising Authority (LOA) for and on behalf of the Scandinavian Sailing Union (SSU).

3. Venue
The event will be based at Skiphelle outside Drøbak. Drøbak is a 30 min. drive from Oslo. Skiphelle hosts a large conference hotel. There are large grass covered areas for rigging and a beach for launching. Conditions will for the time of the event most likely be thermal winds from the south creating side shore conditions. Air temperature will range from 10-20 degrees and water around 10-12 degrees.

4. Rules
The event is governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005-2008, current IFWC Class Rules and Championship Rules, IFCA Class Rules 2005, Rules and Regulations for the Nordic Championships, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions (SIs). The Championship is a category C event as set out in ISAF Regulation 20 - Advertising Code.

5. Eligibility & Discipline
All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code and 21 – Anti Doping Code. A minimum of 3 races is required for a valid Championship. Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance. Competitors shall be members of a National Association.

6. Classes
The event will consist of two disciplines:
¤ Formula Windsurfing
¤ Freestyle

The Championships are an 'Open Entry' event for men and women. There shall be a maximum of 5 races per day for Formula Windsurfing and 2 series for Freestyle. The maximum number of races in the series is 15 for Formula Windsurfing.

7. Divisions
Gender: Men and women.

¤ Junior (including the year one reaches 16)
¤ Youth (including the year one reaches 19)
¤ Senior
¤ Master (from the year one reached 35)

A minimum of 5 entries is required to constitute a division within a fleet.

8. Equipment
All competitors shall bring their own equipment. It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the Class Rules. Equipment checks may be made throughout the event.

9. Sail insignias
National letters & sail numbers shall be in a colour that contrasts strongly with the body of the sail; positioned according to RRS App. G. All Sails shall comply with the national letter system according to the RRS 77 and App. G.

10. Buoyancy
Personal buoyancy is prescribed for all sailing during the event. Each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4 kg uninflated, in fresh water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a ferrous metal weight of 4kg, which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.

11. Liability
Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The LOA, SSU or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event, supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.

12. Courses
Courses for each discipline will be posted on the official notice board.

13. Scoring
The RRS low points scoring system shall apply.

14. Jury
A jury will be appointed in accordance with the RRS 70.4. Their decisions will be final and cannot be appealed.

15. Sailing instructions (SI) and event program
The 'Championship SIs' will be available at registration, as will the Event Programme scheduling social events.

17. Medals & Prizes
Medals or trophies may be awarded up to the first five competitors in the Championship depending on entry numbers in each class and division. Prize categories and the actual number of prizes to be awarded in each properly constituted division will be posted on the official notice board after the close of registration.
The first Nordic man / woman in each class and division shall be known as the class and division Nordic Champion

18. Television & Media
In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.

19. Bibs/Vests & Competitors sail branding
During racing, competitors may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors' branding; and carry the event sponsor's advertising on their sails. The maximum size of the event-advertising sticker is 600 mm times 1.000 mm. The stickers may not be cut or trimmed in any way.

21. Travel
Head for Drøbak.
Approaching Drøbak, after 2 roundabouts along the golf course, head left by 7-Eleven and Uno-X – towards Sogsti.
Follow Sogstiveien until you reach Vestby­veien and head right down Vestbyveien.
After 200 meter make a left into Elleveien towards Skiphelle. Continue until you are at Skiphelle.
Parking is on the right before the bridge.
The hotel is on the other side of the bridge.
