2009 Formula Open and Junior Nordic Championships

Denmark, Skive, 21-23 August '09
1.1 The 2009 Formula Open and Junior Nordic Championships will be held from Friday August 21st to Sunday
August 23rd 2009, in Skive, Denmark.
1.2 The event is a Level 2 Formula Windsurfing World Ranking event.

2.1 The Championships will be organised by Skive Windsurfing Klub (SKIW) as the Local Organising Authority
(LOA). This event is sanctioned by: DBO (Danish Boardsailing Organisation) and SKSF.

3.1 The event will be based just north of Skive harbour, 56.34.62 N and 09.03.11 E.
3.2 Take exit 35 on highway E45.
3.3 Skive is 100 km from Billund Airport (BLL), 35 km from Karup Airport (KRP), 100 km from Aalborg Airport and 350
km from Copenhagen Airport.
3.4 Conditions to be expected: winds 8 to 20 knots from west (depending on prevailing weather system); inshore/fjord
race area; water temperature 15-20 deg C; air temp. 15-25 deg C, for more information please check" target="_blank">

The event shall be governed by
4.1 The 2009/2012 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) Windsurfing competition rules 2009-1012 4.2 The SKSF Nordic
Championship Rules 2006
4.3 The IFWC Class & Championship Rules 2006 for Formula racing
4.4 This Notice of Race (NoR) & the Sailing Instructions (SI)
4.5 ISAF Regulation 20 - Advertising Code applies.
4.6 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

5.1 All entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 - Eligibility Code.
5.2 All competitors shall meet the requirements of SKSF Nordic Championship Rules
5.3 All competitors shall be a member of a national association that is member of the IFWC
5.4 Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance.

6.1 The Class will be Formula windsurfing.
6.2 There shall be planned 4 races/series per day. The LOA can plan more races pr. day should the wind conditions
demand so.
6.3 The maximum number of races in the series is 12.

7.1 Gender: Open and Women.
7.2 Age:
7.2.1 A ProKid junior shall be under the age of 15, sail max 8,5 m2 (born in or after 1995)
7.2.2 A Junior shall be under the age of 17, sail max 10,0 m2 (born in or after 1993)
7.2.3 A Youth shall be under the age of 20, sail max 11,0 m2 (born in or after 1990)
7.2.4 A Master is a man who has reached the age of 35 (born in/or before 1973) or a woman who has reached the
age of 30 (born in/or after 1978)
7.2.5 A Grand Master is a man who has reached the age of 45 (born in/or before 1963) or a woman who has
reached the age of 40 (born in/or after 1968)
7.3 A competitor must have reached the minimum age limit, in the relevant division, by December 31st 2008.
7.4 A competitor must not be older than the maximum age, in the relevant division, by December 31st 2009.

8.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment.
8.2 It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the Class

9.1 National letters & sail numbers according to new rules - shall be black on white, as described in the Racing rules
of Sailing 2009-2012 Appendix B – NEW B2.4 Identification on Sails.

10.1 According to Danish legislation, each competitor & support boat crewmember shall wear a life vest with a
minimum buoyancy of 4kg uninflated, in fresh water. The life vest shall be worn at all times on the water during
training and competition.

11.1 Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The LOA, DBO or any of their officials or representatives or
the sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss
or injury either ashore or on the water either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event,
supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the sailor and at his/her own risk.

12.1 Courses shall be as described in the IFWC Championship Rules, in the Sailing Instructions SI.

13.1 The SI will be available at registration, as will the Event Programme scheduling social events.

15.1 The RRS –WCR low points scoring system shall apply.

16.1 An International Jury may be appointed in accordance with the RRS Appendix N.
16.2 The decisions of the Jury cannot be appealed, as specified in RRS 70.5..

17.1 A sailor shall neither make radio transmission while racing nor receive radio communication not available to all
sailors. This restriction also applies to mobile telephone communications.

18.1 The organiser will force a strict policy regarding rigging area and clear passages. Anyone not following the
restrictions set out by LOA can disqualified after just one warning.

19.1 Each participant shall be insured with a valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum insurance limit
2.000.000 Dkr. per event or equivalent there of in any currency for any accident. All competitors who sign the Entry
Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover. Competitors shall produce evidence of such
insurance at registration.

20.1 Medals or trophies may be awarded up to the first 3 competitors in the Championship, including Women, Youth,
Junior, Masters and Grand Master, depending on entry numbers. Prize categories and the actual number of prizes to
be awarded in each properly constituted division will be posted on the official notice board after the close of
20.2 The winner of the event shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Champion.
20.3 The first woman shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Women Champion.
20.4 The first Prokid jr. shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Prokid Jr. Champion." target="_blank">
20.5 The first junior shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Junior Champion.
20.6 The first youth shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Youth Champion.
20.7 The first master shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Master Champion.
20.8 The first grand master shall be known as the Nordic Windsurfing Grand Master Champion.

21.1 Competitors are reminded of the ISAF rules and regulations concerning the use of banned methods and
substances. Drug testing by AntiDoping Danmark IS LIKELY to take place during the event.

22.1 In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to
make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed
television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined
in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates without compensation.

23.1 During racing, competitors may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests carrying the event sponsors'
branding; and carry the event sponsor's advertising on their sails. The maximum size of the event-advertising sticker
is 600mmX1000mm. The stickers may not be cut or trimmed in any way.

24.1 There will be an official dinner on Saturday evening for all competitors included in the entry fee.

25.1 All competitors may park their vehicles in the competitors’ area during the entire event. Camping and overnight
stay on the event site is however not allowed.

26.1 A wide range of scheduled and charter flights are available from all over Europe.
26.2 Competitors must themselves arrange for transport from the airport. The forum on" target="_blank"> or" target="_blank"> will be useful for arranging transport from local riders.

27.1 The entry fee for all classes and divisions is 600,- Dkr.
The cut-off date for entry is July 25th, 2009.
Entry after this date will be charged late entry fee of 100,- Dkr.

27.3 Entry at the registration day can not be guaranteed. But if posible a charge of 800,- Dkr. shall be made in cash.
27.4 The maximum number of entries is limited to 96. LOA and DBO will assign the starting slots based on a firstcome-
first-served principle combined with wild-card distribution.

28. Registration
28.1 The registration office during the regatta will be situated at the Skive Sailing Club, adjacent to the race area.

Among the ten events for the Paris 2024 Olympics is Men's and Women's Windsurfing, and a review is underway to determine whether the RS:X equipment, which has served the event since the 2008 Games, will continue beyond Tokyo 2020. World Sailing has received seven tenders by Class Associations and Manufacturers that request consideration to be the selected equipment for Paris 2024.
