A long day on the beach for the competitors produced just 2 races in light and shifty conditions on the final day of the Downunder Pro - Formula Windsurfing Oceanic & Australian Championships. Jesper Vesterstrøm managed to hold on to his 2 point lead to take the event win ahead of the newly crowned Australian & Oceanic Champion, Sean O’Brien.
A building breeze today gusting up to 27 knots allowed 5 more races on Day 2 of the Downunder Pro - Formula Windsurfing Oceanic & Australian Championships. Jesper Vesterstrøm clawed his way back in to the lead by 1 point ahead of teammates Sean O’Brien and Luke Baillie.
The first day of racing at the Downunder Pro - Formula Windsurfing Oceanic & Australian Championships had sailors on the water for 4 races in shifty, tactical conditions with Queenslander Sean O’Brien leading the event ahead of former World #1 Jesper Vesterstrøm from Denmark and Nathan Hohnberg.
The Formula Series makes a welcome return to Loutsa Bay near Athens, Greece.
The event is confirmed for 25th to 28th September...

This years North American Championships took place at Ransom Everglades School, on Biscayne Bay, Miami, Florida, from 20th to 22nd December.
Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG-3) just won the Formula Experience World Championships title in Brazil and the South American Formula Championships in his home country Argentina.
The location for the 2014 Downunder Pro Formula Windsurfing Championships is back on Botany Bay in Sydney. One of the glamour locations for Sydney windsurfing and suitable in all directions of wind; this is one of Australia’s premier racing locations.
Praia de Vitoria will be the focus of the windsurfing world for 3 weeks next spring
but two new events in 2014 Euro Cup calendar:
May 27 > June 1 – Rollei Summer Opening, Sylt, Germany
July 22 > 27 – Volvo Surf Cup, Sylt, Germany

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has published an urgent change to rule B3.31 of the Racing Rules of Sailing. The change will be effective from 1 January 2014.
The urgent rule change was authorized during the ISAF Annual Conference in Oman as permitted by ISAF Regulation 28.1.2.

The race is this Sunday, 12/08/13. The wind has been blowing early so the skipper’s meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at the shore in front of the launch area, about 100 yards north of the parking lot. There will be some time to finish rigging after the skipper’s meeting with a target race start at 9:30 a.m

Peru Beach in Buenos Aries will host the 2013 South American Championships from 9th to 14th December.
On Tuesday 10th of September, around 12PM, windsurfer Janis Preiss returned to Latvia. The day before, September 9, he crossed the Baltic Sea on his Gaastra Formula windsurf board from Liepaja (Latvia) to Gotland (Sweden) with assistance of supporting yacht “Nordic Virgin“ and made the 320km in 11 hours. It took 8 years to achieve his dream.
